Vitaly Golomb is a technology investment banker with over 20 years of experience on all sides of the table as a venture-backed CEO, venture capitalist, M&A, and financing advisor. Vitaly is Partner at award-winning global M&A investment bank, Drake Star Partners, where he focuses on transportation/mobility and new energy, as well as artificial intelligence, software/SaaS, Internet, and advanced materials sectors.

Previously, he founded and served as Managing Partner of GS Capital and was a Founding Partner at HP Tech Ventures, the corporate venture arm of Silicon Valley’s original startup where he was recognized as a Global Corporate Venturing Rising Star – awarded to top 1% practitioners in the corporate venture. He led HP’s investment in The VR Fund and served on its Advisory Committee. Before that, Vitaly was the CEO of an e-commerce SaaS startup, an award-winning digital agency, and a graphic arts services company.

Vitaly grew up in Cupertino, California, and started his technology career as a teenager. For the last decade, he has been consistently voted as one of the top mentors to a dozen global startup accelerators and business schools. He has contributed to TechCrunch and Boss Magazine and authored the best-selling Accelerated Startup. He is an in-demand keynote speaker and trainer on early-stage startups, venture capital, and corporate innovation. As the Executive Producer of the Startup AddVenture conference, he organized large scale events across seven countries and appeared on stage as a speaker and lecturer in over 30 more. He also advises Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance and has served as a Supervisory Board Member of the Ukraine Venture Capital and Private Equity Association since 2016.

Vitaly is fluent in English and Russian, holds a BA in Computer and Video Imaging from Cogswell College, studied Venture Capital at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, is a registered FINRA broker-dealer agent and general securities principal, and a CFA candidate.

What will you do?

Several main blocks of projects:

Social media management: audio and video editing, design and image editing, copywriting, compiling newsletters based on some articles, prepping materials, etc.

Research tasks needed for Vitaly’s new book (on the topics of career, health, and relationships): do some research for what Vitaly outlines, find best sources, collect data, organize it.

Production of the online course (on the topic of startup pitching): researching the needed topics or best-practices, putting data together, structuring materials, editing, helping with scripts.

Administrative tasks: scheduling and setting meetings, sending follow-up emails, putting together presentations for conferences (not investment banking related).

Podcast production (only twice a month): editing and uploading.

“Must-haves”:

Fluent written and spoken English - first of all, you will be writing, editing, and doing everything else in English, thus your written skills should be perfect and you should never allow yourself or others to have any grammar/spelling/typing mistakes; moreover, Vitaly prefers communicating in English, so you should be able to do it freely.

Self-reliance and amazing organizational skills - you will be given projects, not tasks. That means that you will be responsible for them from the beginning to the end. Vitaly will give directions, answer questions when they come up, but will not do micro-management every day. So, you have to be an independent self-starter who is not afraid of working without supervision, who tracks each step, always checks that everything is done on time, never forgets about tasks, proactively asks for more, etc.

SMM skills - we do not require you to have official working experience in that, but will definitely expect to see a great understanding and at least your personal projects and results. If you also have experience in email marketing and/or copywriting, that will be an advantage.

Graphic design skills - we do not require you to have official working experience in that, but will definitely expect to see your personal portfolio of created images (video and animation skills are a big plus as well).

Research and writing skills - you enjoy spending many hours finding the best sources, most interesting and relevant information, putting them together, structuring, editing, etc.

— Hunger to learn and to share your own opinion. Vitaly needs a person who will be a partner to him, who can apply their own ideas without being told what to do.

Opportunity to adjust to the PST time zone and have regular check-in calls with Vitaly at 23:00 - 00:00 (Moscow time) least 3 times a week.

What we offer:

Full-time employment (8 working hours per day, Monday-Friday). 

Mostly flexible working hours. You will have calls with Vitaly somewhen between 23:00 - 00:00 (Moscow time) at least 3 times a week, and overall, you need to understand that he will be online for any questions/communication only after 20:00 (Moscow time), but the rest of your working hours are flexible. Please note that we will not consider candidates who are planning to combine several jobs. Thus, if your CV includes a current job, that should mean that you are eager to quit it if selected to work with Vitaly.

Fully remote work. You may be located in any country or city, just need a stable internet connection.

Stability - this is not an internship or project work, we consider only the candidates looking for a long-term commitment (working 2+ years together). Please do not apply if you are looking for a short-term job.

Quick selection process. The selected candidate might start the job already after the 25th of January 2021.
